The Pinnacle Microphones Fat Top, a short ribbon passive microphone, is designed to produce a smooth, warm, and full sound. Its primary characteristic is the ability to deliver a rounded audio quality without necessitating equalization adjustments to soften high frequencies. This microphone naturally attenuates high-frequency sounds, contributing to a warmer audio perception.

It features a bi-directional polar pattern, capturing sound with equal sensitivity from both sides while effectively minimizing side interference. This characteristic makes it ideal for isolating specific sound sources in recording environments. The microphone's frequency and sensitivity response are calibrated to ensure pristine audio quality, facilitating the transition of natural analog sound to a digital format, thereby adding warmth to digital recordings.

The Fat Top is versatile, suited for recording vocals and instruments in both studio and live sound settings. It is particularly effective when used in pairs for a Blumlein configuration, enabling comprehensive room sound capture. This microphone is optimally suited for recording guitar cabinets, pianos, brass, and percussion instruments, due to its ability to capture rich and immersive sound qualities.
